Could you offer a little bit of time and guidance to help the young people of Wakefield get engaged and experienced with the world of work?
Statement is one of the founding partners of Wakefield Works and we are appealing for employers from all industries to get involved and open up their doors to help young people learn more about what it would be like to work in their chosen sector. This is a great opportunity to meet with young people and offer support, advice and guidance for those who could potentially lead the industry in the next few years.
The format for Wakefield Works is changing slightly this year to improve the overall experience for both parties - the employers and the young people. So read on for a little more information about what’s changing.
On Tuesday 2nd and Wednesday 3rd of September, we hope to get employers involved by offering short appointments with young people who are interested in learning about working in various industries. We’re looking for a wide variety of industries, from companies in law and finance to those in retail and distribution.
If you feel that your company could support the programme then please register your interest by visiting the Wakefield Works website. We urge as many businesses as possible to offer a small amount of time as it can go a long way for the youth of Wakefield.
On Thursday 4th, there will be a new event taking place - the Wakefield Works job event. Businesses from the Wakefield district will gather in one place and offer job placements and apprenticeships. This is a great opportunity for employers to not only offer valuable industry advice, but offer real-life experience for those who need it. Whilst young people work hard for great qualifications, a huge amount of these people then hit barriers because of their lack of experience. If you and your business are interested in offering a range of job vacancies, then please get in touch with the Statement team and more information can be given to you.
We feel that it’s really important that events like these exist to not only get young people educated about work, but also to get them excited about work.
If you want any more information about the event, then visit wakefieldworks.co.uk and please consider giving what you can to improve the job prospects of the young people of Wakefield!
