It's always good to work with local businesses. Over the past few months the team at Statement have been working on a very local project called Unique Wakefield. It's a fantastic joint marketing partnership between some of Wakefield's finest independent businesses.
It started out as an idea by a number of local retailers. They wanted to raise awareness of what they do and help visitors and locals alike to learn more about the wide variety of quality independent businesses that were around Wakefield city centre.
They approached us here at Statement and asked us to come up with a brand concept. So we worked collaboratively through our branding process and, after much deliberation, decided on the brand name Unique Wakefield. It really captures and sums up what these businesses are all about - what they do is individual and special - it's unique!
From here we set out creating the brand design. Again, we wanted to capture the individuality of the members of the group. The final design was a shopping tag style, with bold colours and distinctive typography.
One of the main elements of the project was the creation of a pocket guide which would be used to inform visitors and residents about what each business offers and where they're located in the city. We're pleased to say that these landed in our office today and they look great. We can't wait to see them in local shops, cafes, museums and the local tourist information centre.
The final piece of the jigsaw - for now - is a supporting web site so visitors can log on, find out additional useful information such as opening hours and also connect with Unique Wakefield on social networks.
We love working on local projects and we've a few more in the pipeline which will be announced soon.
Have a great weekend!
