As our client, Twenty 5 Design, looks forward to celebrating their tenth year of success, we take the opportunity to catch up with owner and director Mark Speight about his continued passion for bespoke interior design and quality craftsmanship.
Who are Twenty 5 Design?
Twenty 5 Design are an award-winning interior design company, renowned for creating stunning kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms across the Yorkshire region; from initial design concepts, through to installation and those all-important finishing touches that make their bespoke living spaces so impactful and unique.
What was the inspiration behind Twenty 5 Design?
“From leaving school, I went straight into a joinery apprenticeship and worked alongside my Dad. Even at that young age, I knew I was most excited about the projects that included really challenging and interest custom builds – there’s something special about designing and crafting pieces that are one of a kind. The possibilities are endless.
We set up Twenty 5 Design to create spaces in people’s homes that make them feel excited about where they live because just about anything they can imagine is possible.”
What drives your business forward?
“Our passion for exploring the latest in interior design trends and new technologies has always been a big driver for us. This industry never stands still and we continue to be amazed by the constant innovation that we see from the brands we work with. You have to be willing to embrace change and new ideas, and that’s something that keeps our work exciting.”
What has been the most exciting moment for you personally, since the launch of Twenty 5 Design?
“Winning ‘Kitchen of the Year’ in 2014 was a really memorable moment for us and it meant a lot to receive recognition on that level from Second Nature. We were also nominated for ‘Retailer of the Year’ in a national award category in the same year.
We’ve had a number of our projects featured in magazines such as Real Homes and Essential Kitchens Bedrooms and Bathrooms over the years and it’s always nice to know that our clients are so pleased with the finished result. We spend a lot of time and care making sure things are just so, right down to the smallest details, so to see the finished article in print is a great feeling.”
What’s the biggest challenge for your business?
“We’re a relatively small team but we’re always expanding so for us, the challenge is ensuring that everyone who’s part of our own internal team, and those we partner with, have as much integrity and passion for interiors and craftsmanship as we do.
We’re proud to say that the Twenty 5 Design team comprises a real wealth of talent, skills and expertise and we’ll continue to only work with those who meet our high standards and expectations.”
How important is a digital presence for your company?
“It’s hugely important, and to us, it’s absolutely the way forward. We’ve thought so for years but we’ve felt even more strongly about our digital presence over the past two years. The way people now use the web to research interior design ideas, products and suppliers before they begin their home improvement project has really moved on and if you’re not active online, you’ll more than likely be overlooked.
Our website makes it so much easier for our clients to see a wide range of our work and find out a lot about our design and installation processes before they even pick up the phone. It’s also made us accessible to clients across North Yorkshire and other areas we work in beyond Wakefield, where people might not get the opportunity to visit our showroom.”
How did you first hear about Statement?
“We actually found them online. We liked the fact that they were local to us, which meant they had a good understanding of our local and regional target audiences.
We also had some mutual business connections who had worked with Statement in the past and were happy to recommend them, which gave us reassurance at a time when we knew we wanted to move our digital presence and platforms on but weren’t sure where to start and there were a lot of unknowns.”
When you initially contacted us, what were you looking for?
“We knew that our website had become dated and that it was time for a new platform. Our old site wasn’t mobile friendly and really didn’t reflect our work. We’d run a number of print campaigns, some in magazines and some in newspapers, but we weren’t getting much of a response and we knew we needed to start driving our business through digital marketing, which is where Statement really added value.”
What sort of comments do people make about your website?
“We never get anything but compliments and the vast majority of new clients that visit our showroom have already been to our website first. They’re always very positive about the look and feel of our site and how user-friendly it is. We never use any stock imagery on the site so everything you see is our own work, which I think clients find refreshing.
We also get frequent enquiries through the contact form on our website, so it’s easy for people to get in touch with us even when the showroom’s closed.”
What’s next for Twenty 5 Design?
“We’ll continue to expand and strengthen our team, as it’s really important to us that throughout our projects, every client receives the highest level of service and communication. We’ll also continue to embrace the new trends and technologies that make our projects so exciting and varied.”
